CANDLE CARE

HOW TO NOT FUCK UP YOUR CANDLE.

BEFORE YOU LIGHT IT

Give your candle some space.

Place your skull on a stable, heat-resistant surface that's large enough to safely catch any melted wax.

Keep it away from:

  • Children

  • Pets

  • Curtains

  • Draughts

  • Anything flammable

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Trust us, children are not fireproof.

THE FIRST BURN

Allow enough time for the wax to melt evenly across the surface.

We recommend burning for around 3 hours.

A good first burn helps set the tunnelling and gives your candle the best chance of burning properly throughout its life.

SKULLS AREN'T PERFECT.

Because who is?

Your Dead Calm skull is sculpted from wax, not poured into a perfectly uniform container.

Because of its unique shape, melted wax may naturally escape through the eyes, nose or sides of the skull while burning.

This is an expected characteristic of a sculpted candle and doesn't mean there's anything wrong with your skull.

No two skulls will behave exactly the same.

KEEP THAT WICK TRIMMED.

Before each burn, check your wick.

Keep it around 5mm.

If the flame becomes too large or you're seeing excessive soot, extinguish the candle, allow it to cool completely, and trim the wick before lighting it again.

A trimmed wick = a cleaner, more controlled burn.

DON'T OVERDO IT.

We know you're enjoying yourself.

Still, never burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.

Let it cool completely before lighting it again.

If the flame becomes unusually large, flickers excessively, or the candle becomes excessively hot, extinguish it immediately.

WHEN TO LET GO.

All good things come to an end.

Stop burning your candle when approximately 10mm of wax remains.

Don't try to squeeze every last second out of it, it simply means its time to get yourself another.

ONE LAST THING.

Never move a candle while it's burning or while the wax is still liquid.

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Never burn it near anything flammable.

And never assume a candle is safe just because you've done it a hundred times before.

Burn responsibly. We'd like you to stick around.

REST IN PEACE.
